Tofu Schnitzels

Tofu Schnitzels Who doesn't love a schnitzel - These are quick and super easy - It's the crust that makes it work

Ingredients
  • 0.25 cup Toasted breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 0.25 tsp Table salt
  • 0.125 tsp Ground Black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Sweet paprika
  • 0.25 tsp Dried Thyme leaves
  • 0.25 tsp Dried Marjoram leaves
  • 0.125 tsp Dried Rosemary leaves
  • 300 g block Firm Tofu - drained and pressed
  • 0.25 cup Besan (Chick-pea) flour
  • 1 Egg - beaten
Instructions
  1. Combine the breadcrumbs, spices and herbs and place on a plate.
  2. Cut the tofu into 1.25cm-thick slices, place in a plastic bag with the flour and toss to coat.
  3. Dip in the egg to coat all surfaces.
  4. Press into the breadcrumb mixture to coat.
  5. Fry the slices in a pan over a medium heat into golden brown – 5 minutes per side.
  6. Serve with vegetables of choice and hot chips.
